Niebla Stitch Tutorial
In this tutorial, I want to teach you how to make this simple, highly versatile texture that is ideal for any type of project: scarves, cardigans, sweaters, beanies, blankets, or anything you want! Even though it is textured, the fabric does not feel stiff and has a beautiful drape.
It is the same stitch I used to crochet the Niebla Sweater and the Niebla Beanie.
What you should know before starting:
-It is worked using only basic stitches: Slip stitch (Sl st), Single crochet (Sc), and Half double crochet (Hdc).
-It is not reversible; it has a wrong side (WS), where it is smoother, and a right side (RS), where the texture shows.
-The stitch pattern is a multiple of 2, so you need an even number of base chains.
-Always start your rows with 1 chain (Ch 1), which does not replace the first stitch.
-The texture is formed by repeating a 4-row sequence.
-In the video tutorial, I am using fingering weight yarn and a 4.5 mm crochet hook.
-Stitch markers are optional, but they will be very helpful while practicing.
Now, let's crochet!
Chain an even number of base chains:
Row 1: (RS) Ch 1. Sc across the entire row. Turn.
Row 2: (WS) Ch 1. [1 Hdc, 1 Sl st in the next st] repeat to the end. Turn.
Row 3: (RS) Repeat Row 1.
Row 4: (WS) Ch 1. [1 Sl st, 1 Hdc in the next st] repeat to the end. Turn.
Repeat Rows 1 through 4 as many times as needed.
